Role model interview
The Role model I chose to interview was my mother. She is a CNA at the University of Utah Hospital on the Ortho-Truma floor. She has worked there for 15 year and got certified in high school.
1. Before you landed on your current career, does a time come to mind that you experienced failure? Tell me about it and how did you overcome it?
she says she wonders if this was the career she really wanted. Maybe she missed something that she would've liked better. Then she reminds herself how much she loves the career she is in now and that she couldn't see herself doing anything else.

2. In your day-to-day duties, do you sometimes experience a 'dead end' or a failure? What do you learn from this error?
"working in the health field can be hard because people can be in their lowest state of health. learning to deal with patients death can be hard. Then you see some of your patients get better and then it give you hope."

3. Would you hire or want to work alongside someone who doesn't know how to deal with adversity? Why or why not?
"I would hire someone that doesn't know how to deal with adversity and would work with them. I think everyone has an opportunity. People can change and learn for the better so I would give them that chance."

4. What is an ethical dilemma that you face daily in your line of work and how do you deal with it?
"Patients can be in a lot of pain and be at the lowest of the low. This cause them to lash out easily towards anyone that is around them. Sometimes patients will say things to the healthcare workers that shouldn't be said or try to do them harm. It would be nonprofessional to fight back at a patient so the best way to deal with this is take a step back and breathe. Also reporting the patients behavior to the charge nurse can help them keep you away from that patient."
